Reading through Proverbs has been quite difficult for me because it just holds SO MUCH truth… Sometimes truth can be a difficult thing to face but at the end of the day God instills this truth in us to protect us from doing things that will essentially hurt us. Such as, “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty” – Proverbs 21:5
Just like your earthly father tells you, “Don’t touch the stove because you will burn yourself”, God tells us that specific actions lead down roads that will only hurt us. Satan thrives on these types of attitudes that us as humans naturally have. The attitude of “I’ll do what I want because it’s my life”. He uses that to steal, kill and destroy. But God has a beautiful plan for your life and everything He says, protects us from what we (wrongly) think is good for us.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
God doesn’t tell us this truth to stop us from enjoying life and having fun… He does it because He’s a loving father who only wants the best for us. Lean into Him, lean into His truth. So much good will come from this.
